Social freedom formed from equality is what you hope for when you reach collage. However it's not that simple when your collage is in a small hometown in Jellico Tn, where all the eye can see is; bible thumpers, hypocrites, dope heads, racists; rednecks, and more. When born in the wrong place being different is shunned upon by the whole town of around 4,000 where you are antagonized and humiliated for what you are, even if science is the one to blame. "Herma" (A nickname given to by their peers) lives through suffrage everyday, try to constantly get by either from making ends meat or just trying to fit in. When a shinning light stops in for the summer will it be her saving grace or once again will they fall short of the fading light?

"There are a million shades of grey between their black and their white - but no one ever cares to see them." In a world with a limited view of gender, Cam Shills struggles to come to terms with their identity as neither male nor female, a shade of grey in the midst of a sea of black and white. The road to acceptance isn't easy, though, neither for themself nor those around them. "If no one wants to acknowledge who you are, do you really exist at all?"
