"I like you, a lot. But I don't think I'll be able to keep you happy", Lucas said.

"Why?", I asked. "Why do you think you can't keep me happy?"

"Because I don't love you!", he exclaimed. Those were the words that still wake me up in the middle of the night.

*Jess' POV*

"Are you breaking up with me, Lucas?", I asked, as I was on the verge of breaking down.

"I have to, I don't have any other choice", he insisted.

"You don't love me, do you?" I said as I pushed back the tears.

"I do, just not enough", he mumbled under his breath.

Those words have scarred me for life, as I still try to get over him.
