On the way to my bed I turned on the television and slipped off my sneakers. I was annoyed with life right now. I just wanted some peanut butter to make it all better.
I peeled off my jacket and got comfortable in the warm covers.
“Breaking news. Robbins Brothers Diamonds was recently broken into and investigators have informed sources that the beloved Echo Diamond is missing. Police are searching for any suspicious behavior from local residents but nothing has been found yet.”
I opened the lid to my peanut butter, engrossed in the news. The Echo Diamond was beautiful and known all around California. It was the heart and pride of Beverly Hills and the fact that someone got away with stealing it is…commendable.
“If you have any information on who could’ve done this horrible deed please call any police station immediately.”
Well, I’ll be damned. They got away? That’s crazy. Whoever did this will be in big trouble. Beverly Hills will probably kill them themselves, fuck the court.
Thump.
I furrowed my eyebrows and looked down at my peanut butter. My spoon couldn’t move further down because something was blocking it.
I tried again.
Thump.
“Ugh…what the…”
I started scrapping peanut butter to see what was so hard in there. I really hope that bastard of a cashier didn’t put his dentures in here while I wasn’t looking. I kept scraping the peanut butter off, then I saw a-
“OH MY GOD.” I threw the peanut butter across the room.
What the hell? No. I’m hallucinating. I ran into the bathroom with the peanut butter in my hand. Turning on the hot water, I grabbed the tub of creamy goodness and put it under the sink.
Doing a silent prayer, I reached in the Jiffy tub and pulled it out.
Please no…
I looked in my palm and of course, because life hates me-
It was the Echo Diamond sitting there, looking all gorgeous and shit.
