Despite the fact that Sandy, Paz, Hazel and Jacqueline are all polar opposites, they're inseparable.  Sandy is a theater geek who loves the limelight, Paz is a shy artist who hates attention, Jacqueline is a goth with a general disdain for existence, and Hazel is a fangirl who falls passionately in love with something practically every year. One day, Sandy  trips over a lost and found box in a bookstore and in it finds an empty journal she's eerily drawn to. She takes it home with her and soon finds out anything that's written in this book comes true! This story follows her and her best friends as they meet new people also attracted by this "Tome" and realize that maybe the rabbit hole goes deeper then they ever imagined...

No guy would ever be this close to me in real life, let alone me being able to handle it; I would've been so timid and afraid. But this was the dream world. I could speak and be as brave as I wanted to. "Yeah, I am," I said. "What are you gonna do about it?" He paused as his eyes looked between the two of mine. Then, he smirked and swiftly closed the gap between our lips. ~~ In a small town in New York, Hazel is your average quiet type. In a school full of clichés, she falls perfectly under the category of "nerd" and has her own little nerdy group of people she loves to hang around. They respect the fact that she's non-verbal. The thing that plagues her is her ability to go through anybody's and everybody's dreams which has a nasty side effect--she lost her ability to speak in the real world. This is not something she can control, nor something that's necessarily dangerous. It just happens. One second she's in darkness, the next second she happens to be in someone's dream. She's also really rich too and lives in a mansion with her mother and sister. One day, Heather had fallen asleep in class because of a party she attended the day before, and had a dream about waking up in, what seemed to be, a fantasyland. She became determined to find out what the dream meant, and then she met someone who was having the same dream as her, and so the both of them made it their mission to find out why they're having these reoccurring dreams...oh yeah I forgot to mention, she's not very fond of Jenna, since they didn't really have a good start. (Edit: She speaks English throughout most of the story. But, spoiler alert, she speaks Spanish in the final chapter and in one of the bonus chapters.)
