After finding her mom's dead body on the living room floor, after school one day Anina's life is never the same. All of a sudden she is whisked away to live with her half-brother's dad, is forced to move to a new school and now she must testify in court against her father. Her father is dangerous man, always on the wrong side of the law and hanging with wrong crowd. Uprooted from the only life she's known, avoiding being killed by members in her father's gang and handling high school may prove too much for Anina to handle. Anina wants nothing more to be left alone, to be left in her head.
