Carter has a secret. She's never told anyone what really happened that night in the alleyway, never really explained her recent insomnia or fear of being touched. Working at her families horse farm is her only escape, and she proves to be a lifeline to those horses as often as they are one to her. But when a new horse shows up, proving so dangerous that she worries she might not be able to save him, she worries that she might finally break.

Ryan has a problem. Ever since his new step father kicked him out of his house, he has no job, no money and no way to feed his horse, the one thing he can trust. In desperation, he turns to his half brother Aiden and manages to get a job at the local horse farm. And this time, not even a murderous stallion or the abrasive boss's daughter is going to scare him off.
