"Sit." he grumbled, not even bothering to look up from the paperwork in front of him. Cautiously, I took a seat in from of my interviewer, the smile melting off my face.
"Name." he ordered, pulling out a sheet and finally looking up at her. I grinned at him as the made eye contact, but the steely blue eyes remained unrelentingly icy.
"Matilda Bridges-Bowen." I replied, refusing to let his glare unsettle her. He heaved a sigh and jotted her name down quickly on a piece of paper.
"Why are you here today?" he asked, his baritone voice refusing to sweeten up even the slightest. Being of the competitive sort, from that few minutes that I sat in the chair, I'd already made it my mission to make him smile.
"I needed to use the toilet, that's why." I quipped sarcastically. When his eyes looked up at me, flickering with confusion, I realised that maybe this wasn't the best time for sarcasm. I gulped as a small laugh escaped my lips.

And, well, from that moment on, she refused to let his icy nature freeze her fiery personality. Rather, she made it her goal to make him melt.
