Eros ran his hands back through his hair, turning his back on me as he began to pace the length of the room. he kicked at a few stray pieces of rubble on the warping wooden floor. Deep in thought, he said, "It was written long ago, Kalia K'Hula. I'm going to make you a deal, how's that sound?" The god turned to face me, a smile on his face so falsely genuine and poisonous that it made my skin crawl.
"A deal?" I crossed my arms."What are you getting at?"
"A deal. A way to save your idiotic little friends and heal your precious little boyfriend."

I stepped forward, closing the space between us. "I'll do anything. What kind of deal are we talking here?"
"Nothing too important." A malicious from took his lips. He snapped his fingers, and a roll of parchment and feather quill appeared in his hands. "Just a little insurance policy."
"Hand it over." I snatched it from him.
"Just there on the line." He said a little too cheerfully.

I handed the parchment and quill back.
I gasped as I saw my eyes flash gold in a shard of a broken mirror.

"Congratulations, Kalia K'Hula," His voice was low, and all too calm. A sort of morbid amusement danced in his eyes as he added, "You just broke the first seal."

Thunder rolled outside, and lightning struck the world for a split second in blinding light, right through a hole in the chapel's roof to where Eros was standing.
And when the lightning was gone, so was he, leaving nothin back a perfect black circle where he'd stood.

Empress of Fire

14 parts Complete

Lian snuck out of the imperial palace and exposed the village healer to be a fraud and a devil-worshipper. Cursed by the spurned fire god, Huogwai, and disgraced and cast out by the royal family, Lian set out with her manservant Emiru to the kingdom of fire to rid her of the curse of uncontrollable flames for a chance to regain her claim to the throne. But being a fire disciple meant she was a practitioner of the forbidden arts. For those that hunt her kind, the game had just started.
