Apart from Chell, Doug Rattmann is the only human left alive in Aperture. But how do you really define human? Is a synthetic consciousness functionally equivalent to a biological one a real person? Curiosity is confused, Doug is delusional, and Old Aperture is slowly crumbling around them.

The history of humanity has always been shrouded in mystery and speculation. Remains and technology have been found, but that only tells the species that replaced humanity so much. These two new life forms are the Inklings and Octolings. Cephalopod like humanoids with tentacles for hair and weapons that fire ink.
