It occurred to me now was probably a good time to speak, but for the life of me I couldn't get a single syllable to pass my lips.
The man suddenly gasped at something and looked out onto the street, cursing under his breath. Turning back to look at me, he glanced down to the kid I was now sporting. Darkness covered his face so I could see nothing but the curve of his jaw. The lighting angled my way was most likely worse. Could he even see me?
I heard a car engine in the distance and the man's hands squeezed harder, making me cringe.
"Take her," he repeated with urgency. "Go."
And then he was gone.

A face splitting smile that sent shivers down my spine. This was it I was going to die. I hit some kind of nerve and sent him over the egde. I closed my eyes preparing myself for the worst.
