"All throughout my child hood, Les was always sneaking up on me, making me jump. Quickly, so I wouldn’t have time to see his face, he’d pop out of some bush and tackle me while yelling “SURPRISE” as loud as he could. I would always try to scare him back, but, when I tackled him, it was if he expected it. He would turn open his arms, and catch me into a hug. The tight squeeze constantly took me off guard, making me squeal in shock. While I pouted, he'd bury his face in my hair and laugh so hard I could feel the vibrations..
“Les!” I would whine, “You’re supposed to be scared.”
“Well,” His breath tickled my ear. “Maybe I just like surprising you.”
I forced the laughter farther down my throat. He didn’t know I would be coming home so soon, he still thinks I am on a school field trip. Since I was coming home earlier than expected, I figured I would once again attempt to scare the boy.
Slowly, I tiptoed closer to the scratched wooden door. I could hear music booming from inside, giving me an advantage of surprising him. Before he could catch me, I threw open the door and yelled:
“SURPRI-“
My smile fell and I dropped my arms. I blinked a few times, wondering if I was seeing things, before my heart exploded in my chest. It was real. That was Les, my best friend since forever and my Love of almost two years, giving some tan girl the best orgasm she ever had.
“Shit.” He whipped his head to look at me, I looked away from the green eyes I had always melted into. “Taylor, I-I didn’t know you’d be home. I-Shit. I’m sorry."
Once again, Les had been the one to surprise me."
Story of my life, literally. This is a memoirs retelling my time in high school, focussing on my relation ship with my best friend, my other friends, and the terrible rumors that had been spread about me.
Tears rush down to my cheeks and splatter on the wood floor of Danny's university apartment. He has an imprint on his face from the creases in his pillow and keeps blinking and rubbing his eyes. I sit on the edge of his bed and his hand rests on my knee. He's crouched in front of me in a pair of basketball shorts.
"I don't know why I did it." I hiccup. "I should've just said no!" I take a shaky breath, my chest moving erratically. "And t-they all saw me freak out!" Danny's fingertips skate up and down my thigh and he doesn't say anything. "I mean, who wants to be with somebody like me? I can't even handle a sip! Y-you should just go and find somebody who can handle herself! You deserve better than me!"
"Don't say that." He murmurs, raising my hand to his lips. He kisses each one of my knuckles with love and care, and then he looks up at me and smiles softly. "I choose you. No matter what the circumstance, no matter who comes along, I pick you. I'm here for you and I'm here with you. I'm fighting for you and I'm fighting with you. I love you. I don't care if you have to stay up all night to cry. I'll stay up with you. There is nothing you can do to make me love you any less, and there is nothing you can do to make me leave. I'm here, right here, forever."
