Loretta Castorini is a 37-year-old Italian-American widow who was engaged to a family-oriented man whose named Johnny that had to visit his ill mother for his blessing, but she ends up falling for his brother, Ronny, whose hand was amputated by a machine in a bakery he works in. when Johnny finally returned, he believed that marrying Loretta would bring death to his mother, so he lets Ronny marry her instead.
