The casual, rural man known only as Peter Lyring, normally takes hitchhikers due to his now failing farm and recent divorce, causing him to leave his home more than he enjoys. One night, when encountering a woman of young age on the run from something, out in the middle of literal nowhere, he offers her a ride. This sets off a massive chain of events, leading Peter and his newfound hitchhiker on the run across the country to escape men wanting them dead.
