Killian Jones (25) is a struggling singer and musician. He went to NYU because his parents are rich. After he graduated college (majoring business) he told his parents he didn't want to follow their footsteps. They were supportive (if they picked something they wanted anyway) until they learned he wanted to be a musician. When they found out they cut him off. He lives with his only brother (Liam, 29) now, much to his parent's dislike, in Storybrooke, Maine.

Emma Swan (23) has been an orphan since she was a newborn. She doesn't know why her parents gave her up. She grew up in dozens of foster homes. Most of them were great, until they had  their own children and sent her back. Her best friend (Lacey) has been her friend since they were 5. They both just moved to Maine, to get a fresh start after Emma's break up. Emma just broke up with her abusive boyfriend, Walsh. (I hate blaming poor Neal, so he'll just her boyfriend from before Walsh that she had to break up with cause she moved or whatever). Lacey just bought a Cafe/Bookshop in Maine. It's called 'Belle's Book and Cafe' because that is what Lacey's favorite princess was when she was little. Emma is working there while she finds out what she wants to do.
