Chapter one of a kinda sorta novel that I'm writing. It's about a girl, Miranda, who's on the run from the person who killed her sister, and her best friend, Phillip, who ran away from his abusive mother. They're living in San Francisco, separated from any family they used to know, until what can only be described as a twist of fates sends them down an ever-steepening spiral.
