After the British Prime Minister is assassinated, investigative journalist Jay Marshall struggles to make sense of the killing and save her career. In desperation she is drawn to the York Storytellers Festival, where she hopes to find clues hidden in the numerous stories and tales. What she doesn't expect to find is a mysterious photographer from Prague, Helen Siebert, visiting the festival with a puppet troupe called Circus Inferno. Together, she and Jay unravel the clues in the short stories and find themselves on a trail of murder, extortion, deception and cover ups that leads back to the very heart of Prague and a plan that could affect millions of lives, including their own. The Excitement of Solitude was written in 2001. I'll be uploading chapters here from the whole novel twice weekly. Cover photo: Prague by night. Karneyli, Wikipedia

He grabbed a bottle of some sort and smiled. "Nighty night." He whispered. He sprayed the substance all over me until I blacked out. -- 16 year old Cathy moves from a small Rhode Island town to the big Austin, Texas.
