She never knew about her father and her mother death because of her grandmother, Fiona Goode, that is the most powerful witch of New Orleans. She can make afraid everybody (even Marcel) practicing black magic.
Kate, after her birthday started investigating about her mother death, but her grandmother won't let her do.
This is is an alternative universe and also a crossover between The Originals and American Horror Story Coven & Hotel.
Vampires and warewolves are different in this universe.
