"What happens in the library stays in the library." Eighteen-year-old Eliott Lynch spends his nights cleaning at the town's public library, and his days attending interview after interview, desperately trying to claw back some sort of future career after his parents allowed him to drop out of high school at sixteen. After finally getting through the first round of an interview, not only does he go to work, but he invites a bottle of vodka to join him. But what happens after the bottle is empty will leave him wondering whether or not his drink was spiked. Dove Kennedy is a seventeen-year-old high school graduate who is moving onto one of the top universities in the world. Life couldn't get much better for Dove, which makes a change from her usual situation of it has to start getting better soon, after being in the centre of rumours that her place in university had been bought by her overly rich and obnoxious parents, showing how little her parents showed about their true selves. Dove's parents all but disowned her after she decided to pursue a career in the music industry, and only refrained from kicking her out of the house for the sake of public appearance. But having nowhere to go after running out of the house when a heated argument between her and her father ends badly, she finds herself winding up in the back of the local library, hiding until closing time.

Valeria didn't rush. She never did. Inez was pinned beneath her, wrist locked overhead, the hold precise and impersonal. Not pain. Control. Inez scoffed anyway. "That's it?" she sneered. "I've had tutors scarier than you." Valeria said nothing. The silence pressed in. "You don't scare me," Inez added, louder. Brattier. "You just-" "Enough." One word. Flat. Final. Valeria lifted Inez's chin with two fingers, detached as a correction. "Look at me," she said coolly. "If you're going to embarrass yourself, do it properly." Inez laughed, brittle. "You think this makes you powerful?" "I don't think," Valeria replied. "I decide." Her gaze never wavered. "You provoke because it's the last control you have." "I don't belong to you," Inez snapped. Valeria leaned in, voice razor-thin. "You are my wife. You belong to consequences." She released her grip. "Say it." "No." Valeria waited. The quiet broke Inez, she hated being ignored. "...I'll behave, I'll be a good girl" Inez muttered. "Specify." Inez swallowed hard. "...I'll be your good girl" Valeria stepped back, already distant. "Good," she said. "Remember why." #1 older women-13th February (FAST PACE BOOK)
