A troubled teen with a name for being bullied and just not fitting in has a  big secret no one knows. She hides something about her past that may have something to do with the way she is now, and may have something to do with why her mother is gone. She goes through middle school with a dark cloud over her head, her only friend is home-schooled and she can hardly speak to her father anymore, who is now struggling to raise her right on his own. In another school a girl named Adysin is happily making her way through 2nd grade despite her unfortunate home life. Two completely opposite and unlikely friends meet on a school bus and change each others life in huge ways.
