This is not hell, not yet at least. 

Jonathan Samuel Kent is one of the many Messiahs in the El Dynasty. He's left behind with his other family members. Kara takes Jon to visit a friend of hers, leaving him to explore these new grounds himself. Jon is then handed to this Dynasty's Messiah, Colin Wilkes.

He's not reassured with anything they're about to do. Which is trying to summon a Bat Clan demon. Jon has no experience summoning Patrons, and even trying to summon such high rank demons seems impossible.
