The university's train is a high-technology Maglev system that carries students away and towards the campus. After going to school on a Monday to hang out with her boyfriend, John, Caroline waits for him on the train.

After three hours of waiting, the train departs from the station. However, the train does not ever leave the campus. Caroline and many other students find themselves in an alternate world with a destroyed train off of its rails.

Caroline is then forced to explore this world with holographic technology that she has no idea how to operate. When Caroline gets separated from the rest of the students, she finds herself lost in the world of deadly creatures and technology.

Can she find her way back home through this maze-like world? Is John trapped in here too? Can she hone her skills in time or will the world swallow her up?

I have sat often in front of the computer, and stared long at the screen without ever writing a word. The synopsis for this project has haunted me since the first person asked me "So, what is it about?", and to this day I have never been able to deliver a straight answer. This book is about a number of things, many of which do not fit evenly into a succinct description. I have tried to make them fit and have found the resulting descriptions ill-representing and dull. Thus, I have decided to go without a description. This book will fade into obscurity no matter what I put here, so I might as well write what's really important. Winter in a city is an especially punishing time. This book comes out of my late nights and early mornings riding the train, and my looking at the window and being able to make out nothing but the blur of the glass. From the outside it may look dead, but certain people know that the inner workings of a city are a true marvel to behold. In writing this, I have tried to capture that marvel and deliver it to you, the reader. This is a book about a city and the people within it. The rest is up for you to read, if you so choose. When Evita starts asking questions Evelyn Sheer, the head of the city's Department of Energy, takes her captive and places her in a secret, underground research facility. Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem. Evita isn't ready to leave.
