The Avalonian Coup and assassination of the Venti Queens has left Northern Flareia in turmoil. Olivier, Flae and Kylan decide to turn to the other Flareian countries for help, with the intention of forming a Flareia-wide alliance against Tommel, the False King on the Avalonian Throne. However, with the Gaian and Venti Dragonheirs missing, an alliance is not something that can be made easily. 

As they travel to Anemasi for help from the Spirit Dragon, hysteria is spreading across Umbrasse. Emperor Nequami insists the Dragonheir perished in the coup, but a rumour begins to spread that he is alive, and willing to help. With the shadows spreading more rapidly across Flareia, and his country pushing more than ever to overthrow their Emperor, Kylan must make a choice - to follow his wishes of not becoming Emperor himself, or leave many of his friends to die.
