With magic and mystery at every turn, can Ruinar find his place and survive the evil king's wrath?

Notes: This was my first time writing a story in first person point of view so I know it isn't perfect. Feel free to let me know of any grammar or other issues since it is still a work in progress. Don't forget to vote if you are enjoying each chapter.

Ruinar is my favorite of my original characters from my book series. This story is a prequel side story about his childhood. I hope you enjoy the story. It is not required to know the series first, just come on over to Angoleth and hang with dragons anytime.

Siderion is mere minutes away from becoming a member of the Order and earning his first rank stripe when Serkha City is attacked and his life is changed forever. Thrown away from everything he holds dear, he must scramble for answers as his moral ground shifts under his feet. In a world full of mages and monsters, nothing is safe. - - - - - - - - There were lots of other mages gathered in the plaza, addressing the arkaetres they had ridden with curt nods or short dialogue. The doors to the building were big enough for even the largest dragon to enter, but still only a small imperfection in the huge structure. I knew the door was the size of a dragon because I could see one to compare it to, flying above the dome. Then I realized that the dragon was black. "Dad? Look up there." He looked up and cocked his head in confusion. "I've never seen anything like that before." The beast was quite high in the sky and didn't look particularly threatening, but it still spooked me to see an arkaetre that wasn't white. After watching the shadowy dragon for a few more moments, my dad said slowly, "It seems like they have no rider. We should probably tell the Council about this." I nodded and followed him inside the dome. "But what about the opening ceremony?" I asked nervously, looking down at my watch. "We've got some time." - - - - - - - - Remember to comment and vote for the chapters you enjoy! Any and all feedback is appreciated. They see me as a burden. A spoiled, selfish girl unworthy of love or trust. I knew the day would come when my family would finally decide to get rid of me for good, but I never expected them to marry me of to a king who sees me as nothing more then a tool. Cassius is cold and angry, burdened by the weight of his people's suffering. But in rare moments, I catch glimpses of the man behind the mask - a man whose duty has forced him to close his heart to the beauty of the world around him. His advisor Maxwell is quick to cut me down if I falter. Behind his sharp gaze and scarred body is a warm heart, that shows me compassion in my darkest moments. And Theo, who seems just as tortured as the flames he wields, seems determined to remind me of every flaw I carry, but his pain mirrors mine and all I can see is a friend who I need to save from himself. I've tried to make myself irreplaceable in their hearts, but no matter what I do, it's never enough. The magic they have traded me for, the magic that runs in my families blood, the magic that they think will safe their people, is not the one I command. They think I'm weak. They think I'm worthless. But I've endured too much to give up on my second chance. Even if my secrets threaten to destroy everything I am hoping for, I'll find a way to rise. For myself. For this kingdom. For a chance at something real. ----- Mature themes (18+) Mmmf Multiple POV (only prologue in 3rd person) Updates every Friday 45 chapters already planned This book is rather detailed for Wattpad and the pacing is medium :)

As an avid- and fairly unsuccessful- writer of fantasy fiction, I know that dragons are pretty much the pinnacle of existence. I dare anyone to argue. So, when my mundane existence comes to an end and I am offered a choice of whatever race I liked upon reincarnating into a fantasy world, of course I chose dragon. Little did I know that my life as a dragon would take more than its fair share of twists and turns. But hey, I was a dragon... Everyone knows you don't mess with dragons.
