Nicole Thomas isn't your average teenage girl. She isn't interested in the latest gossip, or whether people like her or not. She's cast out by girls, perved on by guys, and called rude names wherever she goes. I guess you would call her a tomboy. She plays football, loves reading books and absolutely adores painting.

After she gets back to school from the holidays, she finds that there's a new football coach, meaning that she has a chance of finally getting on the team this year. That is, if the coach isn't as sexist as the last one.

Arriving home on the first school day after the holidays, she's surprised to find that she has a new resident in the household, and it's none other than the new coach himself.

When she tries out for the football team, she is allowed to play, on one condition... She keeps her problems to herself and always plays to the best of her abilities. There is absolutely NO breaking down from the strain.

Throughout the year, Nikki deals with sexists, egotistical jerks, and someone close to her getting hospitalised. Will she hold it together for the team, or will she break down on the field, showing everyone that girls really don't belong on a football pitch.
