"No sooner than I thought this, I saw a figure walking my way. 'It took you long enough' I said under my breath. Very quietly and slowly I took my aim. As she was walking closer, I could see her ponytail bouncing behind her. Soon she was within the preferred distance and I set her head in the cross hairs. I put my finger on the trigger, my heart pounding. The moon peered from out behind the clouds. Just a few more seconds..."

A story about an unlikely pair, on the run from their would-be killers. Although they're working together, can they actually trust each other?

I had gotten away with a lot in the past few weeks. Two attractive girls successfully murdered along with a house pet to warn one of my targets she was not safe. I have not forgotten her, long black hair and beautiful blue eyes as well as a model figure. Don't think I have stopped with my plan, she is still on the list and her time will come. She was supposed to be my second victim however it seemed I made things too difficult for myself by sending these notes, with her boyfriend always on guard but he can't protect her forever. The police and security in this town were clearly useless, no evidence, no clues, nothing. I was hungry when I murdered Jess at her party and I was feeding my appetite. You are probably questioning my motives by now, I can't revel that just yet but things will become clearer in time, after all the truth is out there. When I was younger I never expected to become what I had became now, it stemmed from the way I had been treated. See I have no remorse because people never had any for me, once I wore my disguise, I was hidden, well protected and nobody knew who I was excluding the party however I still had my killer instincts about me, you had to become the perfect murderer. I keep my personality different from when I'm the hunter to when I'm just plain old me. When I'm a killer, it's any means necessary but when I'm my plain, normal self then I'm just an ordinary high school student like everybody else. I had my reasons for what I did, some may say I take things too far however I don't see things that way, I see things in perspective to the way they should be. Chelsea Broker was my next target unless somebody else got in my way first...

A passing grade for two major subjects was hard enough... but with serial eyes watching closely in every turn and corners? It was never about school and graduation anymore. Mitch tossed her last smoke grenade, obscuring the figures in black's line of sight before dashing around a sharp corner in the rain-slicked alley. Echoes of hurried footsteps and shadows revealed an exhausted, frantic group of teens fleeing from the agile figures in crow masks. "I'm out of stuff!" Mitch yelled. "Targets locked on sight!" growled the alpha of the masked figures into a radio. "Initiate Bird Cage. Detain 18-1-22-5-14 at all costs!" crackled the reply, interrupted by static. While one figure lagged, two pairs scurried up the walls with a nightmarish grace. Four more, forming a diamond-like formation, flanked the alpha like a coordinated wolf pack. Mitch, startled by their precision, urged, "Use any disruptions you can!" The alpha raised a hand, signaling a devastating assault of flames, lightning, earth chunks, and plasma bolts. Luna and Remon split, using prismatic energy to glide along the walls, narrowly avoiding the onslaught. Remon faltered, nearly hit, but Rune quickly pulled her to safety. "We need to make it to Unilav Street for our checkpoint!" Mitch gasped, her breath shallow as they sprinted towards their elusive goal. Not until those non-adventurous days grew thorns. Life was going okay...until I found out I had a stalker. That's when everything changed. ~~~~~ That’s when I heard the fence give way. I bolted for my left and sprinted as fast as I could. The rain burned my eyes and I had no idea where I was going. I was running blindly in a dark alleyway to God knew where. And, somehow, I knew I wouldn’t make it through without being caught. All of a sudden, I felt myself hurtling through the air. I let out a scream when my head made sickeningly painful contact with the slimy ground beneath me. That’s when he caught up with me. That’s when he dragged me to my feet, only eyes visible beneath his black mask. That’s when he whispered, ‘Keep still, and you won’t get hurt.’ Stupidly and feebly, I thrashed in his grip. And that’s when I caught a glimpse of the wet blade that glistened with rain drops, before he pressed it against my throat. Cliche, with a twist. Enjoy :) (It's better than it sounds, I promise!) #166 Mystery/Thriller #230 Romance
