When the aristocratic life seems to small for young, rambunctious Karina, she disguises herself to follow her childhood dream of going off to sea. While visiting an unruly pirate port, Karina boards The Charon's Mistress, a rowdy pirate ship under the command of Captain Tiernan, and finds herself in more of an adventure than what she was asking for. The pirate life is nothing of the stories her father spoke of as a child, but Karina is in too deep to give up now. There is only one way to survive on such a journey at sea and that is to deceive it.
