The year is 2597 AH, 2597 years since the vampires took over in 2134 AD. They have the remaining human population under control and the vampire society is thriving.
Alli Lawrence is 18 and after she lost half her family she decided she was tired as being oppressed as a human in a vampire world. After applying for ascension she finds help with an unlikely ally, the mysterious, intriguing, moody and handsome prince. As more and more time passes Alli has to figure out if she is truly willing to give up everything to become a part of a society that isn't quite as perfect as it looks. When she is suddenly faced with seemingly unsurpassable foe, loyalties are tested, she is pushed to the limits and death becomes more than a mere possibility.
