Most people inherit money, grand estates or maybe a dog. Not a musty old coffin bound in reinforced chains. Carmen had been a wayward soul, living an aimless life. Then she inherited the family curse. Her instructions were simple. The Keeper could never allow the coffin to be opened or confiscated. Its occupant had to remain in a state of necrosis. Otherwise, the ancient evil would be awakened. *Short story published for Gothic Gloom, under 1000 words as requested by fright's Writing Contests & Prompts.*
