This story is written in Past and Present tense both. I was having trouble with tenses, sorry. 

Lily's parents have to go and visit other family members, but Lily does not want to leave Houston. Her mother finally agrees to let her stay with one of her friends. Her daughter, May, is good friends with Lily, but Lily doesn't really know much of her personal life, for instance, she didn't know that May had a brother..
