In a society like this, can only the best of the best prosper?
Most are unaware of this answer. They are uninformed about how much of a role the elite have in everyday life.
However, that doesn't mean they won't.
Here they were- the brightest young minds in the vast community of Crest. In this keen era, mentally gifted young adults get chosen to attend a 3-year program that prepares them for what lies ahead. The limits of these students are tested rigorously- not only mental, but physical and emotional as well.
This program was widely known as the CFA.
Each year, there were only twenty graduates allowed to move forward to higher studies. The rest of those who attended were never to be seen or known of again.
The history of Crest was shrouded- as if an enigmatic cloud was looming over it. It was guarded- almost locked away. Some say they didn't know what the deal was behind secrecy and the quest for the elite. And others say that a hierarchy based on knowledge is far superior to ancient ones based on simple power and luck. However, most people when asked, believe in pure second chances. They believe in rehabilitation- and bouncing back from a hard hit.
Crest does not.
Failure might as well be the death of you.

In my world you have to be one of the Elite. After graduating from 8th grade it is a shitshow. You wait long intense nights filled with fear because you know one day they will come for you. They will get you mark my words on that. One day you will be ripped away from the comforts of your own home and shipped away to the cruise. None of the adults speak of what happens on the cruise. The Suicide Notebook
"Make sure you are something before you fade to nothing," is a statement that Lucky takes to heart. At Bayridge High, a prestigious boarding school on the east coast of the U.S.A., they have a legend. A legend of tortured teens, and lost souls, a legend of tragedy. Bayridge has the highest suicide rate of the country, and one of the highest cumulative GPA's. Every cautionary tale, every kid who died young in that school kept a record in the suicide notebook. Detailing their thoughts, their feelings, their everyday lives until their lives were history. And Lucky knows he's next. He finds the notebook from subtle clues dropped by a mysterious upperclassman. He expects to find stories, beautiful and tragic in their nature. What he finds is so much more. A note: This story is labeled as sci-fi. I swear most of the weird things and things that seem slightly off around lucky will be scientifically fictionally explained. It becomes very very sci fi when the huge gigantic plot twist occurs. Ten Million Years Stuck in The Multiverse's Back-Up Information Centre
Kaori Sol spends about 10,000,000 years stuck in a space filled with light dots with information from all life (including different universes; some advanced, some behind). ...... After getting expelled from her family and being homeless, she almost died on the streets from sickness and hunger. Due to her high fever, she doesn't remember what happened afterwards but woke up in an emergency room. According to the doctor, she was found in front of the hospital half-dead. After that, Social Services took her in, and she got put in an orphanage. After going through a hard and exhausting life, Kaori dies at 28 and finds herself in a space filled with lights. She finds out that once she touches the light dots, information poured into her head. Due to extreme boredom while being stuck in the space, she starts learning the information she gets from the light spots. While absorbing the information, her body and mind goes into a meditative state. This means that she had no concept of time. Due to this, she didn't know she spent 10,000,000 years in the space. After, 10 million years, she finally gets expelled from that space and finds herself reincarnated in an ordinary family in a different universe. With all the knowledge she has gained from absorbing all the light spots in the space, watch how Kaori, the smartest person in the universe, navigates through life like a boss. Author's Note: I suck at writing summaries. Trust me, it is better than the summary portrays.

A book still catching it's audience... Joining a mysterious after-school club wasn't exactly on anyone's to-do list. Especially not one that involves intergalactic travel, secret powers, and way too much violence🙄 Normal class day? Near-death sparring sessions, bringing robotic alien plants to life, and trying not to get mashed up before dinner. Every four months, the school hosts tournaments that are basically legal ways to commit violence - fun, right? Add in rivalries, betrayals, double spined - humans, and a universe-threatening psycho-god named Zenith who thinks he deserves all the power... Yeah, welcome to the Academy of Students with Extraordinary Abilities. AEA-Xylkor. And leading their "student armada"? Delia - whose mom can barely pay next month's rent. So... saving the galaxy might just be her best shot at skipping rent. Skateboarder, Rapper,Mathematician, all spices in the 6-ingredient broth. They're mostly tenth graders. They're confused. And apparently, they're the universe's last hope. A hidden force is rising, and it starts with one of them - harboring a power that could either save everything... or destroy it. Idk tho... So yeah. |WATTYS 2022 WINNER - HORROR| Shawn, a convicted criminal, never thought she'd see the sun again, let alone call another star system her home. When she's offered an out from her prison sentence, she embarks on a dangerous interstellar expedition along with 18 of Earth's most intelligent criminals. Their task is to set up a base on a supposedly habitable planet and prepare it for colonization. Although the planet has liquid water and a breathable atmosphere, it is believed to host only microbial life. However, upon arriving, Shawn and the rest of the colonists learn that assumption was grossly incorrect. In a brutal attack from rampaging wildlife, everyone but Shawn and four other colonists are killed. The five survivors retreat to the cavernous network beneath the ground seeking safety, but they soon come to a terrible discovery. These caves aren't ordinary caves, and they are no safer down under than they were on the surface. Proposal of Submission - Psychic the Saga
Hello, I want to first thank you for taking the time to read my proposal, as I know that there are many others you must work through who have done the same as I; please, trust me when I say that your attention is greatly appreciated. I am messaging you today because I wish to submit a selection of excerpts taken from the series of science fiction/science fantasy stories I have written; called Psychic the Saga. I'm a former United States Marine, and a currently enrolled Aerospace Engineering undergrad at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Over the course of the last eight years, during which the earlier stated experiences have occurred in my adult life, I have continually written the story I am now presenting for your consideration. Outside of writing as a hobby, and what was needed when submitting assignments, my only writing credential is a published engineering research paper in the European Physical Letters: 'Tailorable Twisting of Biomimetic Scale-Covered Substrate'; of which, my main contributions were that of the experimentation, and the editing/proofreading of the paper. In regards to my submission, the story of Psychic follows our trio and the rest of their friends as they fight for peace and stability within the newly unveiled realm of psychics, once hidden amongst the world for untold millennia. The statistics of Book One are as follows: word count = ~205279, page count = ~396, target audience = young/new adult (16~34 yr. of age). The reasoning behind this age range is two-fold: the concepts, morals and lessons, themes, and situations/ problems faced by the main characters are both relatable and beneficial for this age group; also yes, there is foul language, and yes there are very visceral depictions of violence. Also also (lol), I wish to give a disclaimer in terms of any romance, love, or anything else similar; I intentionally never take the story beyond anything more intimate than a kiss. So there. Without changing a person's personality, undergoing the Alteration perfects their appearance, IQ, and even their immunity to diseases. No human passes the age of sixteen without being Altered. In the blink of an eye, things change. An ominous message is sent out to all of those below the age of sixteen, providing precise instructions that suggest they flee. Simultaneously, a deadly virus starts to spread all about the world, attacking only the Altered -- every human over the age of sixteen. The virus eats at the modified human brain, and soon the Unaltered begin to realise that the Altered are losing their minds. Home is no longer safe. Friends and family turn on one another, losing control of their own minds and bodies. The Unaltered aren't safe. Even if the virus isn't attacking them, the ones with the virus are. Set on a pristine, futuristic Earth, this is the apocalypse like you've never seen it before. (Rated mature for graphic depictions of violence and mild language.) ❖2021 Watty Awards Shortlist❖ Kevin was just a normal 10 year old kid until he saw a woman vanish right before his eyes. This made Kevin just a little bit different. He paid more attention to people now. Little did he know that this little difference would kill him the next time he encountered another alien about to return home. It would tear him apart, cell by cell, until he was unmade. His mind being transported away. --- So distantly far away there is a race that advanced to the point where they built dyson spheres to house their civilizations. In their continual expansion, they seeded galaxies with pods and connection satellites. Over time they upgraded their dyson spheres into matryoshka brain Cores. Imagine a computer powered by a star. Citizens of Cores no longer age once they upload their minds into the virtual living system of the Core. While they didn't age, most still choose to cycle through life and death though at a different scale of time compared to our lives. Citizens can visit other planets and live there as if they were on a "vacation". Mercury is Earth's hub connected to the closest Core and Earth is a remote vacation spot for wealthy citizens. When the main character was 10 he witnessed a citizen returning to the Core. The story continues 10 odd years later when he again witnesses a similar situation unfolding and manages to touch the person returning to the Core. This causes him to be swept up in the transfer as well and for his mind to join as a "Guest" user of the Core. As a Guest he has limited powers, a starting balance of zero cr or Citizen credits, and no idea how he can get home. He is the first human to ever become a Guest of a Core. Where money itself is the highest form of their science.Complete
