29,029 Feet- The Top Of The World

I breathed in the frigid Nepalese air, gazing up at the great, snowy rock before me that I've dreamed of climbing since I was nine. I could hear their heavy breathing; I was accompanied by the only people that had ever cared about me and the only people I had ever cared about. As I stood at Base Camp, 17,600 feet from safety, I had my very first negative thought about what I was about to do.
'When I reach the Summit, I won't be at the top of the world. Everyone here is taller than me."
