This will be a collection of contest entries for the Writing Prompt Contests I've decided to hold here once a month. I apologize we haven't had any contests here at the Saloon for awhile but now that I know there is an interest I have a simple idea I hope will keep the stories rolling in.Complete
It Began with the Tap
(Playful satirical horror. 8000 word short story) Coming back to Madrid from a wedding in the UK, Jack and Maisy find a tap has been running in their flat for the last five days. In the middle of the latest global financial crisis, these hard-up English teachers have no space in their lives for crippling water bills: tensions rise. Jack accuses Maisy. Maisy accuses Jack. But as they desperately try to sleep-it was a long wedding party and a late night, after all-the true tap-running culprit reveals themselves to be an angry ghost with a very specific agenda. These two foreigners are taking up valuable housing stock that would be better off used by pure-blooded Spaniards. Jack and Maisy face the worst crisis of their lives, where they'll struggle to rest, struggle to adapt-struggle to live.Complete
