After 16-year-old Janeien and her mother become prisoners if their own home, they have no choice but to try and escape from scientist Dr. Martin Brenner's ruthless experiments. Unfortunately, Jane's mother is too sick to try and run away so the young girl has to escape herself. After leaving her home in Ohio, Janeien stumbles across Michael Wheeler in a place where he works. Even though she's a complete stranger, he decides to help her anyway. But this means Mike is in great danger. And so is the rest of Hawkins...
