Anna Madonna Zennor is a seventeen year old girl who lives in a small house on the out skirts of New York with her father. At the age of 14, she makes a promise to her mother to fulfill her dream for her, a dream to become an author. Anna's mother then disappears only a day after Anna makes the promise to her. Anna is depressed, confused, and she is also convinced that her mother did not leave her, but rather that she simply vanished off of the face of the earth without a single trace.
After three years of waiting for her mother to come back, Anna is beginning to realize that her mother left her for a reason, but to discover that reason, she must attempt to fulfill her promise. Exactly how she will do that remains a mystery, but one night, she receives a text on her phone. The text contains an address to a place called Booklane. She follows it, in hopes to find what she was looking for, but what she finds is much more than she ever asked for . . .
