Red Valance never understood why the people of her village feared her grandmother, who was dying of a mysterious illness. They also feared Red, being the granddaughter. All it took was a glance and they cowered.
At this point, the only person to ever love her was her grandmother. Red never met her parents, who died many years ago.
Or so she thought.
It all changed the day a young man, named Castile, showed up.
Sent by someone to bring Red to her father, Red is ripped from the home she ever knew and forced to travel with a man she can barely tolerate, into the hands of someone who is feared by all.
