OUR MOTHER by Gregory Amour
When we were little children we called to you in fear
You always seemed to comfort us and tell us you were here
You never were so far away; you came running with your care
Whenever we called our your name, we knew that you were there
We remember your flowers, smiles, soft words and loving care
And the constant self assurance of forever being there
Your gaze of blue-grey eyes that could chase away our fear
And your help at any moment with your always patient ear
Your generosity of spirit, whether times were bad or good
As an independent woman who, in determination stood
A protecting guiding angel who kept danger far at bay
And a wise self knowing soul who helped your children find their way
Our Mother filled with courage who always gave her Love,
And a Grandma full of Giving with laughter from Above
Loving fun and laughter, you walked and played and danced
And with your graceful poised demeanor, your gentleness entranced
Your simplicity of living which never let you need:
A contentment with the things you had, which never tempted greed
Your energetic spirit that never seemed to rest
An enterprising worker who always gave her best
You had a radiant outward beauty which came from deep inside
And a humble disposition which never let you fall to pride
Forever we will miss you, yet forever you'll be near
And whenever we call out your name, we know that you are here
