The story behind this free style poem that I wrote in high school was kind of dark. At the time my great grandmother and her husband were both suffering with diseases of the mind. She had dementia and he had Alzheimer's. I was wondering what it would be like to live in their minds, lost in their own world as I helped care for them in their last year in this life. The last stanza was written after they both died within a few months of each other.
