Maddy Andrews was a mute. Or, that's what everyone thought. She never talked, choosing to write things instead. So, everyone thought she did this because she couldn't speak. But, everyone was wrong. She stopped talking when she was 5 and was put up for adoption. She was afraid that if she talked, something about her past would come out, and she never wanted anyone to know about it. Now, at 19 years old, she slips. And the one person she never wanted to know, is the only one who knows. Just what will that person do with the information? That's what scares Maddy the most.
