No, this story is nothing like the fairy tale. Cinderella has a perfectly normal life, she has a loving father, her mother didn't die, and she doesn't have a step mother nor step sisters.
Alright, three of those things are lies, but the last one is true, she doesn't have any step-anything.
In reality, her 'perfectly normal life' is a living hell. Her mother died years ago. Last but not least her 'loving father' is abusive.
Oh! Who can forget the charming, kind, prince? Well he's definitely not kind, and he's definitely not a prince, that's for sure.

Sweet Dreams: A Modern Fairytale
This is inspired by a writing project I supervised when I worked with an elementary student. This writing project was a group project to make their own spin on a fairy tale assigned to the group. It had to have all the main points of their fairy tale, start and and with the common phrases of a fairy tale, and it had to have their own creative spin. My student did Cinderella, and it was so fun to work with him and his group, I wanted to make my own. Our dear Cinderella loves to bake, but she's not exactly looking for love when an opportunity to make a name for herself comes up. As for Prince Charming, he is looking for love, just not in the usual fairy tale fashion. And as usual, there's some extra mischief from the step family, royal family, and fairy godmother.
