Savannah Alonso is a 17 year old girl who lives in San Pedro, California. She is a kind-hearted person but with a dark place in her heart. After a tragic event, her parents force her to go to an exchange program in Barcelona, Spain, to get away. In Barcelona, she is hosted by the Santiago's, a well-off family that consists of two loving parents and two loving children, or so she thought. Luca and Luisa Santiago are twin brother and sister. Luca and Luisa are 17 years old, like Savannah. On Savannah's first day at Instituto de Barcelona (Institution of Barcelona), Luca is forced to show her around as punishment for messing with the captain of the soccer team. Savannah finds out the hard way that Luca isn't the guy his parents think he is or is he?
