Lula always wanted to have something to do with the stars since she ran away from home with her brother Sabo. One day when a pirate crew attacks the town and she almost kills the captain she makes a deal to not kill him if he gives her a rare devils fruit called the Sutā Sutā fruit or the Star Star fruit finally having something to do with the stars.
When the Straw Hat Pirates land on a local island where everyone is terrified of pirates except the newest devil fruit user she went to find them. Seeing the high bounty Luffy she ran away soon be found again but the captain.
Hiding from Luffy that they are considered siblings for as long as she can she gets excepted by the Straw Hat crew to be there Astronomist and helping Nami with her want to make a map of the world. Lula being a bold fighter gets attracted to the to himself sword fighter Zoro who soon feels the same way.
