In the Cenozoic-era, six interplanetary warriors, are tasked with protecting life on Earth and the Zeo Crystal. When the green ranger, Rita Repulsa betrays them, and plans to dominate the universe, the red ranger, Zordon survives Rita's attack, he hides five of the ranger's power source, the Power Coins and commands Alpha 5 to perform a meteor strike on the planet; killing both in the process.
Later in the 21st century, five. new rangers were chosen and Alpha 5, along with Zordon's consciousness returned; along with Rita. Over time, the new rangers learned to embrace their diversity and later defeated Rita and her minion Goldar from finding the Zeo Crystal, and destroying the Earth in the process.
Now, the rangers face Rita again, but in the form of another ranger. In fact, the threat isn't Rita directly. Rita has chosen another to take the power of the green ranger. With a new vessel for the green power coin, Rita and her new green ranger can destroy the rangers from inside out just like 65 million years ago. Fifteen years after the original Power Rangers united, a new threat emerges. Thrax, the vengeful son of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, escapes his prison and summons the deadliest enemies of the current Operation Overdrive Rangers-Flurious, Moltor, the Fearcats, Kamdor, and Miratrix. Together, they destroy the Overdrive Rangers' link to the Morphing Grid, leaving them powerless. The Sentinel Knight intervenes, saving the team and calling on legendary Rangers to help.
