We've all heard the teenage love story, the epic saga of a girl chasing her dream and keeping it close. Maybe this story is no different. But, if you look closely, if you see what she saw, and what she knew, maybe this story isn't so unoriginal after all. Anyway, that's how she felt. "When I was in middle school, I met this boy, Mattie. He was in seventh grade and I was in sixth, but that didn't keep me from dreaming. We were friends, but he never seemed to notice I wanted to be more than that. My best friends knew that if liked him, and took it upon themselves to get to know him too. The one that talked to him the most was Chris. But he wasn't always very nice. Once, we were all talking, and Chris embarrassed Mattie so badly that he wouldn't even look at me for a week. That was the coldest week of winter. Mattie was my light, and taking him away from me just made me bitter. He may not have realized it, but every time he brushed passed me in the hallway and said, "Hey, Sydney.", my heart stopped."
