When Cath went through the Looking Glass, she had prepared herself for a life in Chess with Jest. What she didn't expect was to end up on a farm in small town Rieux, France, a place as far from Chess or Hearts as she could possibly be.

But while Cath and her friends adjust quickly and happily to their new lives, someone from Cath's past has followed them through the Looking Glass - someone who wants revenge. With the Rampion Crew and her friends from Wonderland by her side, Cath has to try to stop a war from starting, a war which she would find herself in the center of.
