Meet Richard West. A young teenage writer with a voice in his head, anorexia, abusive parents, and generally nothing going for him except his intellect. As Summer approaches, Richard begins to contemplate suicide to avoid his parents, but he meets Lily, an athletic, kind girl who helps him with his issues along with his closest freinds, Whitney and Morgan. However, the voices in the poor kid's head get violent as Richard's phobia of drugs and hatred for child abuse manifest in violent actions against those who abuse their children. As his hatred for drugs and abuse grow, as do his actions, leading him to adopt the persona of Purity, led by the voices in his head. He makes allies in his quest to "purify" the world by beating any who abuse their children into submission or confession. (Or as he calls them the impure.) However, the voices want more. They want blood, and as Purity's fame grows and his means more and more disturbing, as do his enemies. Richard fights against the impure to the bitter end, and slowly learns even those closest to him may not be "pure". Can Richard fight against his own madness and the enemies he seeks to stop, or will he lose everyone he loves and end up alone in his mad crusade? How far is to far to do what's right? What does one do when their closest friends become their enemies? Richard is forced to face these questions and more in this book. But the hardest question he must answer is...
