Atop a bookshelf, in an otherwise normal classroom, sits a castle made of cardboard. And inside it, a small civilization that idolizes literature. When books go astray from the royal library, the otherwise peaceful court is thrown into chaos.
This is a mystery short story I wrote in the fall of 2016 for a language arts project. The pictures on the cover and at the beginning of the story were taken by me. I hope you enjoy it! As it is my first story, the quality may not be that great. Any constructive feedback is welcome!

Who exactly is the silhouette and why does he have no parents or never leave the old white picket fence of his house. For the longest time. Since I can remember, the only thing I was ever good at was writing stories or telling them. It's the only thing that got me through the day or even for the majority of high school. This story ' the boy in the garden' was inspired by a house I found one day coming back from school. Barely Human: A Short Story Collection
Here lies a series of short stories written out of pure boredom or when ideas I conjure up don't fit nor expand into any bigger story. As I'll be too burdened with college and personal life, I won't be continuing Hollow Ocean for the time being as I would need to revise it. However, I took the time to make some short stories that I oftentimes use as submissions for my finals. Should the need arise, I'm not opposed to writing a second collection.
