Running. Panting. That is all that 15 year old Hunter was doing. All he felt was the wind rushing past him and the soft grass under his feet. All he heard was the thudding of his feet and the thudding shoes of his pursuers. All he saw was a blur of browns and greens. He didn't see this because he was running, but because he was tired, hungry, dehydrated, cold, and most of all, poisoned.
This novel is inspired by Awesome Dragon's AMAZING book series, "The 'Gifted' Trilogy." I give them half the credit of this book, and a HUGE thank you.

But to my surprise, the car swerves to the side slightly next to me and comes to a stop. I take a deep breath I didn't know I was holding at the driver's side door swings open and a very pissed off Axel steps out. "Thank god," I mumble and place my hands on my knees to catch my breath. "Blaze?" He says and I hate it. I hate how he says my name as if it's his. Like he knows it's the only thing I want to hear, him calling out to me, looking at me, focused to me. It's the first time in my life I wanted someone's attention so badly I didn't care how I got it. And that was too dangerous for me to hold onto. "Are you insane or some shit? I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it. "Don't run from me Blaze it won't go well," he growls reading my thoughts causing me to freeze in my spot. "Do not ever think you can get away from me."Complete

Lola Shane, 15 and in her last year of middle school. Her biggest worry was picking out the car she wanted for her 16th birthday. From having sleepovers with her besties almost every Friday, and complaining about long school hours, to living on the cold streets of New York, barely human. It wasn't always this way. On her way back from school one rainy day, she stumbled upon a puddle; a puddle that shone bright light. There she sees a riddle being written in the water and memorizes it. Three years later, she'd been managing to get by being unnoticed by the world and being ghost-like. So it's no surprise when she freezes in panic as black-haired, blue-eyed Tyler leans down to her crouched position and speaks to her. A nurse is in the room, shes backing up at the sight of you. A metal platter is a few feet in front of her and is on the floor. Medication pills are now spilled across the floor and glass shards are laying there with the pills. You see some water along with it. She was looking at you in both astonishment and fear. Certainly they could trust that those in power ultimately had the best interests of the people in mind, right? ~~~ Luna slouched low in her seat, staring at droplets of water that ran diagonally down the window of the bus. The sky was a flat, depressing grey and the incessant, soaking rain left her constantly chilled. It was a typical "liquid sunshine" day in the Pacific Northwest. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed.
