"Falling for you is dangerous. I can't control my own emotions, my own movements when I'm with you. If I fall in love, you know what will happen next between us. The fall," I said.

There was silence between us for a few moments, and my heart pounded as I waited for his response.

"What's the fall, Margot?" he asked.

I swallowed, breathing in.

"Our fall from grace, Shawn. The falling out between us. The fall," I explained.

"Why must there be a fall, Margot? What if you fall in love and I fall in love and that's that? Why can't we be forever?" he asked, the hurt obvious in his eyes. The way he looked at me made me feel guilty.

I shook my head. "I can't fall, Shawn. I really can't."

He sighed, running his fingers through his hair before looking at me again, right into my eyes.

"But I already have, Margot Kate. I already have."
