Sayra Sabharwal and Benazir Chokalingam used to be best friends back in school. Since college, however, Sayra had decided to become one of the "cool girls" and became Benazir's harshest critic and bully. She mocks everything about her - her religiosity, her skin tone and her accent (among many other things). She even calls her "the freshie hijabi" rather than her actual name, and poor Benazir is too shy and good-natured to stand up for herself.

Now they're 18, in uni and working part-time in shops just on the other side of the street to each other, Sayra in Superdrugs, Benazir in The Card Factory. Sayra sees her job as more glamorous than Benazir's, and has even convinced most of her colleagues to join in the verbal abuse.

This is just one glimpse into the world, from Sayra's side. More snippets will be posted in due time...)
