Pricilla Miller just got out of labor, when two men in uniform come into the hospital room to bring her some very bad news about her husband, Sargent John Miller. She is desperate and sulks in her sorrows. She soon turns off her humanity and doesn't talk or even look at people. One day, her brother, Mitch, who has been helping her with her two kids, Heather and Luke, told her that she needed to show more respect to others than she has been. She then realized that she had been an awful person lately, and she promised that she was going to be better, she swore she was.
A few years later while Pricilla's kids, Heather (age 6) and Luke (age 16), where at school, she was bumped into a high school friend, Jouline. They caught up on some stuff and then Jouline strted noticing she looked a little lonely and restless. She finally decided that she was going to make Pricilla go on blind dates. Pricilla agreed just so she could please her friend. She had an imagine in mind, though, which no one meet. Until one day, Pricilla was at a coffee shop, named Cafe Grande, and she saw a man sitting in the far corner, alone. He kept staring at her, and she would blush. Then, he scribbled down something one a notebook and held it up, it read: "Hey gorgeous". That's how it all began..
They stayed in the coffee shop everyday for at least an hour just writing on their notebooks and showing each other from afar. Soon, Pricilla decided that she wanted to go sit with the man and actually talk to him, but when she was walking up to him, he scrambled out of his seat and ran, leaving his coffee behind. The next day when Pricilla went to the coffee shop, there was already a cup of coffee waiting for her, along with a rose and a note. Turns out the man had been keeping a secret from her...

"Hello, my name is Lilly. What's yours? Is that your mother? I only just came to live here with Ivy, and I don't know many people that come to visit her yet. Do you come often? If you do, we could be friends! Would you like that? To be friends? Why, don't you speak at all? And you should really close your mouth; it is impolite to stare like that."
Ivy called out to her from the doorway of the cottage. "Lilly, if you want him to speak, you must first cease speaking." Both of the women were laughing at the children, and Lilly blushed at the comment.
"Sorry! I just haven't seen anyone my age yet, and I got excited, which happens rather easily. It reminds me a bit of puppies I've read about that just get so excited that they- oops. I'm doing it again. Sorry," she said with a shy smile.
Adam, who had been standing there staring, just as she had pointed out, finally found his voice long enough to tell her his name. She beamed at him, saying that they would be great friends. She seized his hand and began tugging him toward the woods behind the cottage, shouting to Ivy and his mother, "We won't go far! Be back soon!"
